Accurate and real-time rainfall measurement plays an important role in many aspects of human life, such as disaster risk reduction through timely warnings. Countries and regional authorities can address their sustainability goals by accurately monitoring adverse atmospheric conditions and predicting the hydrological interaction with land in case of severe precipitation.
AI4SRS seeks to introduce an innovative AI approach using Artys’ patented Smart Rainfall System (SRS) technology. This approach produces high temporal and spatial resolution rainfall maps by processing Satellite Microwave Links data.
As Artys CTO Matteo Colli explains, “the AI4SRS AI based technology effectively addresses key technical challenges inherent in flood alert systems. It ensures rapid detection of rainfall conditions, a critical factor in early warning systems, aiming for instantaneous response times. Furthermore, it integrates real-time updates of rainfall data, crucial for dynamic risk assessment.”
The technology processes this data to generate a detailed precipitation map, characterized by high spatial resolution and accuracy. “This enhanced mapping is vital for identifying potential flood zones,” Colli says, “enabling timely and precise risk management and mitigation strategies in vulnerable areas.”
