INVT was founded in 2018 by two IT experts with a vision to solve the prevailing challenges in online privacy protection.
“The mechanism behind privacy policies is broken. End users are not reading them, and if they did, chances are they would not understand them. Privacy policies are long documents written in legal language,” says CEO Milenko Tošić.
“When regulations like GDPR came into effect, AI started quickly gaining traction in the legal tech domain. There are solutions for producing privacy policies, which are regulatory compliant and supportive of the data related business models. What all these solutions ignore are end users - the primary source of private data.”
As a solution, the INVT team has developed Pro Se, an innovative app that reads and analyses privacy policies on users’ behalf. With Pro Se, users can specify what data they are willing to share, with whom and under what conditions. The Pro Se applies advanced NLP and NLU to analyse a privacy policy of any mobile app, online service or a website and provide users with key takeaways. Pro Se goes deep into privacy policies, analysing critical aspects such as data collection, storage, sharing practices, and third-party partnerships.
INVT is building the Pro Se sandbox for businesses to test user acceptance of their privacy practices before launching a new product. With developments conducted under the ELISE open call, the Pro Se NLP/NLU capabilities will advance from per-sentence analysis to a more holistic privacy policy analysis. This way the solution will be able to identify privacy “red flags” like contradicting clauses and alignment of data management practices. Longterm, INVT seeks to build a set of AI services evolving the Pro Se into legal advisor and mediator, always putting end users’ needs first.
