The Italian National PhD Program in Artificial Intelligence is made of 5 federated PhD courses that bring together 61 universities and research institutions. The 5 PhD courses share a common basis in the foundations and developments of AI, and each one has an area of specialization in a strategic sector of AI application. Each PhD course is organized by a lead university, in collaboration with the National Research Council CNR:
Politecnico di Torino is the leader in the area of expertise “Industry 4.0”, in partnership with the following institutions: CNR, Università di Bologna,Politecnico di Milano, Università degli Studi di Milano, Università di Padova, Università di Milano Bicocca, Università Ca’ Foscari, Università di Verona. Politecnico di Torino is also partner in the ELISE project and hosts one of the founding units of the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems(ELLIS), a pan-European AI network of excellence which focuses on fundamental science, technical innovation and societal impact, with the possibility of the PhD students to apply for membership in the consortium and spend a period abroad in top institutions for Artificial Intelligence worldwide. The selection occurs through evaluation of qualifications and an interview.
